Best Winter 2019 Anime That I’m Watching

Anime / Feb 12, 2019 / 0 Comments

Some years have some huge hits, some seasons are jam-packed with long awaited sequels, and sometimes…well, sometimes it seems like a desert that you can’t see any good anime in sight.

But this winter is not one of them! Here are the best winter 2019 anime that I’m currently watching and highly recommend, in no particular order. Read on and watch anime!

Dororo

Dororo is a reboot of Osamu Tezuka’s manga in the 1960’s, with an anime being made in 1969. It’s a really great updated version that appeals to the majority of anime fans today and the story line is a mix of light hearted scenes and grim, dark foundations. I knew after watching the trailer I’d love it, and I wasn’t wrong!

My Roommate is a Cat

My Roommate is a Cat is the type of fluffy slice of life anime you’d expect it to be, but it’s honestly reallyΒ good. I think even non cat lovers would enjoy it, but if there’s even an ounce of cat lover in you, it’ll make you go aww too many times. It’s even made better by the fact my cats are usually sitting near me when I’m watching it. πŸ™‚

The Promised Neverland

This is one of those can’t miss anime of the seasons that everyone is watching and talking about, for good reasons. It’s a good mystery shounen with enough horror to satisfy horror fans, but not so much that it’d turn the average anime viewer off. It’s an engaging story at least, and one that keeps me waiting impatiently for the next episode.

Sword Art Online: Alicization

Okay, now say what you will about Sword Art Online, but this season is honestly really good. I think what makes SAO so hated is that the first 12 episodes of the first season got everyone hyped and obsessed, only for the rest to be a letdown, putting it mildly and PG. But I think the writers learned from their mistakes and this season is supposed to be really long because the story line is well thought out. There’s still minor complaints to be had, like not every episode is as exciting as the last, but overall it’s so good. They’ve especially learned from their mistakes of cheap throwaway characters, and now we have Eugeo who has been made just as much of a protag as Kirito which in my experience is a pretty unique thing to introduce in a third season!

The Rising of the Shield Hero

When I saw the trailer, nay, the first promoΒ picture for this series, I knew it’s exactly my favorite type of anime. I’m in love with this kind of action adventure fantasy (think Yona of the Dawn, Arslan Senki) but mixed with isekais (Overlord, Re:zero) is even better. The writers don’t stop there though, they don’t just give us a good anime to enjoy and forget later on. They’ve taken the time to really make us believe in the world, love and hate the characters, and make us anticipate the next episode more than many other anime playing right now. Putting it simply, it’s awesome.

Those are just some of my favorite new winter 2019 anime, but there’s a lot more to suggest. I also highly recommend Black Clover, Mob Psycho, Fairy Tail Final Season and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, but I do feel like those are ones you are aware of and already made an opinion on πŸ˜‰
